We don't expect this to excite anyone but us, but we wanted to send a quick update about our new shoes.
We both started the trip wearing old pairs of Montrail Odysseys. Jacob's were purchased in the fall of '07, though rarely worn, and Kelly's in the spring of '08. With all the walking, it was only a matter of time before we'd need something new.
Kelly broke down in Slovenia. On a day trip to Bled, we searched a few outdoor stores before settling on a pair of electric blue Helly Hansen Trail Lizards.
Jacob was tough. He fought through foot pain for the last several days. Today, while seeking shelter from the cold in a Krakow outdoors store, he was tempted by a $170 pair of high-tech German hiking shoes, but eventually settled on the more modest Nike Air Span 6. Picture these with light green in the place of red.
The next challenge will be replacing our running shoes, when the time comes. They sell here for about twice what we pay at home. Yikes.
