Those of you who attended our wedding last winter might remember the delicious vegan vanilla cake that was served. The people at La Rez kindly packed up the top of the cake and sent it home with us to freeze and enjoy on our first anniversary. Now, we are not the kind of people that carry freezers in our backpackers over five continents, so we decided we had better eat the cake before leaving on our trip. Fortunately, Kelly's dad's birthday was coming up, so we decided to use the cake to celebrate with Kelly´s family the day after our wedding. Here's what happened to the cake:
1. Kelly sat on it during the car ride to the restaurant to meet her family.
2. The kind people at the restaurant tried to reshape the cake a bit before serving it to Kelly´s family.
3. We all had a little bit of cake.
4. We went home and left the rest of the cake on the floor in our then-unfurnished house (the movers had already come).
5. Aston walked into the room with a cake-shaped belly and white frosting on his nose.

I still tell people about that cake... It was so good. It totally made the trip to your wedding worth it :)
I also tell people about that cake and remain amazed something so good didn't have butter or eggs. If you get one for your first anniversary I'll even visit you in Berkeley.
Why the random cake story now??? It was delicious. Even Aston liked it, and he's a very picky eater!
I did not know Aston is a picky eater!
